Center for Preventive Medicine

It is a structural and functional unit that is part of the SI TMA.
The Center for Preventive Medicine of the SI "MIA of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region" was established based on and is the successor to the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station of the SI MIA according to the Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine dd. 14.12.2017 No. 1029, following the requirements of paragraph 521 of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dd. 30.08.2017 No. 663 "On Amendments to the Regulations on the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine", the Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine dd. 14.06.2017 No. 507 "List of health care institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine".
The Center is a state sanitary and preventive health care institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to ensure the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of persons who, following the law, have the right to medical care in health care institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and carries out state sanitary and epidemiological supervision in the subordinate territory, in units subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, military units of the National Guard and health facilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Center is headed by a doctor and an epidemiologist. The Center has a bacteriological laboratory, which employs a bacteriologist, a laboratory assistant, and a junior nurse.


The main tasks of the Center for Preventive Medicine are
- implementation of state sanitary and epidemiological supervision over the observance by legal entities and individuals of sanitary legislation of Ukraine, sanitary norms and rules, and regulations in order to preserve and protect the health of police officers and employees of territorial bodies and units of the National Police, institutions and establishments subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine, their families, pensioners of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police of Ukraine;
- identification of environmental factors that adversely affect human health;
- study, assessment, and forecasting of health indicators of persons entitled to medical care;
- preparation of proposals to ensure the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of persons entitled to medical care and persons in the units of the National Police, as well as proposals to prevent the emergence and spread of infectious diseases;
- participates in deciphering outbreaks, group infectious and non-infectious diseases, investigating the causes of occupational diseases and poisonings, food poisoning, and toxic infections;
- conducts bacteriological studies of environmental objects and laboratory diagnostics of infectious diseases to persons entitled to free medical care in health care institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and other institutions, organizations, and citizens under the terms of concluded agreements, for a fee according to the approved price list and following the current legislation of Ukraine.

Bacteriological laboratory
The bacteriological laboratory conducts laboratory diagnostics of infectious diseases, determination of the sensitivity of microorganism cultures to antibacterial drugs, and conducts bacteriological studies of the quality of food, drinking water, air, flushing, and other environmental objects.
The research is carried out by a bacteriologist of the highest qualification category and a laboratory assistant.


The laboratory is equipped with the necessary equipment that allows conducting the following bacteriological studies:
1) Research on the carriage of pathogens of intestinal infections.
2) Research on the carrier of the pathogen Staphylococcus aureus.
3) Serological examination for carriage of typhoid fever pathogen.
4) Bacteriological tests for dysbiosis.
5) Examination of biological material (swabs from the eye, nose, pharynx, ear, boils, carbuncles, wounds; examination of feces, urine, etc:
- identification of microorganisms of the genus Staphylococcus;
- identification of microorganisms of the genus Streptococcus;
- identification of microorganisms of the genus Meningococcus;
- identification of microorganisms of the genus Corynebacterium;
- identification of microorganisms of the genus Bordetella (whooping cough);
- identification of microorganisms of the Enterobacteriaceae family (pathogens of typhoid fever, salmonellosis, shigellosis, GKI, and other pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms);
- identification of microorganisms of the family Pseudomondaceae;
- identification of fungi (including the genus Candida);
- identification of microorganisms of the genus Campylobacter.
6) Determination of sensitivity of microorganism cultures to antibacterial drugs.
7) Bacteriological studies of the quality of food, drinking water, air, flushing, and other environmental objects.
